Basics - Lord of the Rings Online Wiki Guide. Weapon Trader/Bowyer/Armoursmith. A weapon trader deals in weapons while a bowyer sells bows. There are light, medium and heavy armoursmiths.
Each one sells armour in their particular category. You want to buy whatever you can afford, make certain that is better than your current gear, and something that you can actually equip. Otherwise it's not much use to you! Don't bother to repair gear before you sell it, save your money for the gear that you're wearing.
In between quests its handy to sell off any useless trophies, or old equipment that you no longer need. This way you have more space for better equipment and a bit more money to buy it with. You should also repair your current gear. When choosing your reward after certain quests, be sure to pick the most expensive item if you can't use either one or won't keep the item until you can use it. Watch Shooting Dogs 4Shared. This way you can sell or auction the item for more money.
Most quests involve moving to a location and talking to a person, killing someone, or getting/returning an item. Pay attention to what people say and check your quest log if you forget. Also use your map and minimap to make things easier. Watch for supply crates and other containers during quests for items.
When a quest has a checkmark beside it, then you are on the last step of the quest before you get your reward. You can cancel an instance in some quests, so you can return to town to restock. This is done through your quest log. You'll also find rally points in your travels, which are circles of stones where you spawn after death. You appear at the closest rally point to where you died, but some characters have skills to take them directly to the closest rally point. Don't be afraid to use the social window and invite people to join a fellowship.
It makes the game a lot more fun, and easier for everyone. You get slightly less XP when teamed up, and only the leader can invite new people to join. You can transfer leadership to another member by right- clicking their portrait. You can right click people that you see around you to invite them to your fellowship, if you're the leader and they're not already in a fellowship.
You can also set the loot rule by right- clicking your own portrait, the three possible rules are: Free For All: First one to loot keeps the items. Round Robin With Roll: Money is divided up evenly. Common items are given to the player to loot the body. All other items are rolled on, the person who rolls the highest value gets the item.
You have a choice of NEED, GREED and PASS when rolling. Need mean you need the item and can equip it or use it for crafting. Greed means you don't need the item, but you wouldn't mind it for selling or trading. Pass means you don't care, or are too busy and you'll give up a chance on the item to someone else. So only roll "need" if you really and truly need an item, otherwise you'll make everyone angry, and you might get kicked out of the fellowship.
Round Robin With Loot Master: Money is divided up evenly. The leader of the fellowship decides who gets what items. On harder quests it's very important to make plans as a group and communicate. Things like which enemy people should attack, not to hit sleeping enemies, only let certain players pull enemies and which colour fellowship attack to use. Fellowship attacks become available at level 1. Basically 4 coloured circles appear and you click the one you want to contribute to the attack while your friends do the same.
Generally, red deals more damage to the enemy, green restores morale, blue restores power and yellow deals damage over time. It's best to communicate to your fellowship what the best choice is for a situation, so you can make sure that you get the most out of the attack. Eg: if everyone needs morale and only 1 player picks green, there won't be much of a bonus. If you all pick green, then you'll really notice the help. Money Money comes in the form of Copper, Silver & Gold. Copper equals 1 Silver, and 1.
Silver gives you 1 gold. Chatting is done by text or by voice if you have a microphone. For voice chat among fellowship members, just enable it in the options. You can either use hands- free mode or press "Z" before talking. Pay attention to the speech bubble in the bottom left corner of text chat. The name beside it tells you what channel you're talking on. You could be talking to your fellowship, a certain person, the trade or advice channels, etc.
Don't be afraid to travel to nearby towns to see what other equipment, items and services they offer. Often it can make the difference in a particularly hard quest. It helps to turn off the quest filter on your minimap when entering a new town. This way you can check out where everything is before you turn the filter back on. Milestones in towns allow you to set your home location.
You can then use the map in your inventory to warp back there. Vaults are in some towns and allow you to store up to 3.
It's good to store gear that you can't yet equip in here, so you don't waste money repairing it. Auction halls let you post your items for auction after you pay a fee. You can bid on other items and pay your bid right away. You will be told in chat if you are outbid. Once the auction ends you are mailed the money you bid if you lost, or the item if you won.
Stable- Masters allow you to take a horse to another location that you've visited before. It costs a few silver to do this, so save your money if you can. Reflecting pools allow you to replay the instances from some of the quests that take place around the town. When fighting enemies you have to make sure that you target the right enemy. Backspace targets the closest one and Tab switches between targets.
You also need to pull or attract only as many enemies as you can handle fighting at once. If you can only handle one enemy at a time, then don't attack the enemy who has 5 of his friends nearby. Attack the enemy going for a walk in the distance instead. Pay attention to your morale and the enemy's, especially if yours is draining faster during the fight. If it looks like you're going to lose then by all means RUN LIKE THE WIND before the enemy kills you. They will chase you for a bit, but they should lose interest as long as you don't bump into any new enemies along the way.
Don't forget to drag your items and skills to the quickslot bar at the bottom so you can use them easier when you need them. There are also 3 other rows above that bar that appear when you hold down Ctrl, Alt or Shift and press the indicated button. After the fight you can loot the body of the enemy for items, money and gear if their corpse is sparkling. Only the first player or fellowship to attack an enemy gets the experience for it and is allowed to loot the body. You can always help another player or fellowship to attack an enemy, but you won't get anything for it. Enemies that have already been engaged by another player or fellowship have grey stats. Your character has a status being affected by either hope or dread, or neutral.
When affected by dread your maximum morale is lowered, heals aren't as effective, enemies deal more damage and you sometimes cower out of fear. Hope on the other hand makes heals more effective and enemy damage is reduced. If you lose all your morale, then you will take a dread penalty for 1. This penalty gets larger as your levels increase, so it's best to spend time shopping and repairing rather than fighting just after death. Perks You start earning destiny points after every level starting with level 1. These destiny points can be spent on temporary effects called perks.
Perks can boost the strength of your armour, your running speed, morale, hope, even grant you extra experience. The choice is yours, but IGN Guides uses the accelerated experience perk most often. Signature/Elite/Elite- Master/Nemesis. Often times you will see an enemy of slightly higher or even lower level than you, with a lot of morale.
If you click this enemy you might see signature or elite under its name.
